After giving great security feature like fingerprint scanner in budget segment with Note 3, with dual system security feature (Dual in One), Coolpad is taking smartphone security into the next level.
Coolpad was originally the smartphone brand of Yulong Computer Telecommunication Scientific (Shenzhen) Co itself a subsidiary of China Wireless Technologies Limited. China Wireless was officially renamed “Coolpad Group Limited” at the end of 2013. Coolpad entered Indian market and raised the bar with Coolpad Note 3, which was the first sub 10k smartphone in India with a fingerprint sensor. The company extended its product line-up with Coolpad Note 3 Lite and the recent Coolpad Note Plus in the value for money category. This time they forayed into the upper mid-range smartphone market with its latest handset Coolpad Max.
Look and Design:
Coolpad did such a great job designing this smartphone, strating from its great elegent packaging. The phone comes in Metallic body with, 2.5D curved-edge glass display, It has dual speaker grills on the bottom side with a USB port in between. There is a 3.5mm audio jack on top side. The back side hosts 13 Megapixel camera and fingerprint sensor. The back also comes with two thick antenna lines. The box comes with a micro USB cable, power adapter, SIM pin, earphones, screen protector, back cover, user manuals, and of course the handset itself. The phone will be available in royal gold and rose gold colours option.
Features:
The Coolpad Max smartphone flaunts a 5.5-inch full HD (1920*1080 pixels) IPS display and Full Metal Unibody. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core 1.5 GHz Processor paired and 4GB of RAM. Also on offer is 64GB internal storage. It sports a 13-megapixel camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. Also on offer is a 2,800mAh battery, a fingerprint scanner on the back and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, and USB.
Performance:
The key feature of Coolpad Max is dual-in-one, which enables users to distinctly manage their personal and professional spaces on their device. With Dual space, you can create multiple accounts of one app. Like you can have dual Whatsapp accounts on one phone. Same with Facebook, twitter and other apps. Coolpad has defined the two spaces as external and internal systems. The internal system ensures calls and texts are encrypted for added security. This is a great feature to manage your personal and professional with one device. We really liked the look and feel of this device, the display of the Max smartphone has a 2.5D Arc design, which puts a slight curve around the edges of the screen. It has a scratch-resistant metal unibody and a polished metal lining and continues with a matte finish, overall the devcie looks really premium. Also liked both camera output which are decent enough and can compite with any other smartphone in this category. The day to day performance also have no issues at all. But we noticed some heating issues while playing highend games or working more with the snapper. The fingerprint scanner works perfectly in every situation that we have tried, we can say that they are the best fingerprint scanner in this segment.
Verdict: Coolpad Max is a gorgeous device, loaded with great security features and gives good camera output. But failed to balance the cost of this device.
